„Töchter sind wir alle drei“, sagt Marie-Claire Schlameus, Cellistin und ein Teil der Experimental- Band toechter.
Zusammen mit Lisa Marie Vogel und Katrine Grarup Elbo hat sie toechter gegründet. Die drei Musikerinnen verbindet eine Verwurzelung in der klassischen Musiktradition. Sie haben es sich jedoch zur Aufgabe gemacht, die diversen Facetten ihrer Streichinstrumente Violine, Viola und Violoncello aufzuzeigen und neu zu erkunden. Ihr gemeinsames Verlangen besteht darin, einen Dialog zu erschaffen, der sich auf die Begegnung von akustischen und elektronischen Klängen konzentriert. Daraus geboren ist ihr Debütalbum „Zephyr“ – welches die Vielfalt und Synergien der Band in zwölf unverwechselbaren elektronisch-akustischen Tracks einfängt.
Die drei Musikerinnen samplen Wischer, Klatschen und Klopfen zu treibenden Techno Beats und verfremden mit Hilfe von Software und Effektpedals (dem 4. Instrument) den Sound ihrer Streicher zu fliegenden und klirrenden Teppichen. „Zephyr“ ist kein Album, was man einfach mal so nebenbei hört. Die Platte braucht die volle Aufmerksamkeit, belohnt die Hörer:innen aber mit einer Reise durch abgefahrene Klangwelten. Zwischendurch trifft man dann immer wieder auf die Frage: Das sind wirklich alles echte Instrumente??

Alle Sounds des Albums fühlen sich vollmundig und warm an, was auch der herausragenden Akustik des Saal 3 im Funkhaus Berlin zu verdanken ist, wo Chöre und Streicherarrangements aufgenommen wurden. Die Post-Produktion des Albums fand im Berliner Studio des Elektronik-Musik-Veterans Apparat mit Produzenten und Cellist Philipp Johann Thimm statt.

We are proud of this song. It sounds very electronic but everything you hear comes 100% from our acoustic instruments (violin/viola/cello). We recorded our own unique percussive sample library.
Agnes Obel – Broken Sleep
I find it very inspiring how Agnes Obel creates songs. Every song has its unique world. She works so finely on these sound details and thus pulls the listener into her world of thoughts and dreams.
Jonny Greenwood – Prelude – The Power of the Dog
I’m in love with how unconventional and creative he uses strings in his music. For this soundtrack, he even played and recorded the cello himself. I’m a fan.
Julian Sartorius – Locked Grooves
I love how playful and creative he works with percussion and sounds. Always inspiring to watch and listen to.
Apparat – Heroist
The co-producer of Apparat Philipp Thimm produced our record ‘Zephyr’. Philipp and Sasha Ring have been a great influence on our record. LP5 is one of my absolute favourite electronica albums out there.
