Das Familientrio Wildwood Kin – das sind Emillie Key (Gitarre), ihre jüngere Schwester Beth Key (Bouzouki) und ihre Cousine Meghann Loney – hat bereits mit dem vorangegangenen Debütalbum “Turning Tides” (2017) beeindruckt. Die drei spielten unter anderem auf dem Glastonbury, bei Radio 2 Live im Hyde Park und dem “A Beautiful Night Out” des Teenage Cancer Trust in der Royal Albert Hall. Ihre Fangemeinde wuchs heran, wurde stetig größer und bescherte der Band weit über 20 Millionen Streams.
Jetzt sind Wildwood Kin mit ihrem gleichnamigen zweiten Album zurück (VÖ am 4. Oktober via Silvertone Records / Sony).
Aufgenommen haben sie die Platte in mehreren Sessions in LA, Nashville und Oxfordshire, zusammen mit einer Vielzahl anderer Musiker. Darunter Angelo Petraglia (Produzent von Taylor Swift, Kings Of Leon) und Ian Grimble (Produzent von Bear’s Den, Catfish & The Bottlemen). Herausgekommen ist eine wunderschöne Folk-Pop Platte, die Erinnerungen an Simon & Garfunkel, Bear’s Den und die frühen Fleet Foxes hochkommen lässt - nicht die schlechtesten Referenzen. Die Themen Liebe, Verlust und Spiritualität, verpacken die drei in starke, reflektierte Lyrics und mühelos miteinander harmonierende Vocals.
Wildwood Kin haben eine ungewöhnliche Begabung für Harmonien und gehen den Weg der immergrünen Folk-Rock-Melodien, aber letztendlich sind sie drei normale, junge Frauen, die sich in der Welt zurechtfinden und sich den gleichen Herausforderungen, Triumphen und Tragödien stellen wie der Rest von uns. Diese Verbindung, Akzeptanz und Liebe wird in diesem wunderschön reflektierenden Album festgehalten.

My favourite song/band discovery of 2018 and still love it to this day. The pulsing sub bass intro and the haunting reverb harmonies are two of the things I love most about this track.
Black Honey - Thrice
I love the heaviness of the guitars and the lyrics are really profound and metaphorical.
Immanu El- I know you so well
A peaceful song to listen to on a car journey with uplifting fulfilling lyrics.
The Brilliance - Brother
A great song and melody singing about forgiveness which is good for the soul to dwell on.
Junip - Walking Lightly
I absolutely love the instrumentation and percussion of this song and how it creates such a mellow, contemplative vibe. The song reminds me of how fleeting ad transient life can be sometimes and to cherish each moment.
Fionn Regan - Abacus
One of my long-standing favourite songs of all time. The melody is just so beautifully simple and I never get sick of hearing it.
Cat Stevens - The Wind
My parents were big fans of Cat Stevens and this is the opening track of my favourite record of his ‘Teaser & The Firecat’ which I grew up listening to. It always takes me back to happy memories of me and my brothers singing along to this record when we were little kids.
Kacey Musgraves - Slow Burn
The first time I heard this song I was sold after the first few bars. The chord choices and changes are so pleasing & unusual. It’s a really good mainstream/country crossover.
