"It’s just a pure celebration of love in all of its splendid and baffling guises, toying with the so-called sins of lust and forbidden infatuation … inspired, in ways, by a summer spent listening to Stop Making Sense, The Joshua Tree & Screamadelica."

Echo and the Bunnymen - Nothing Lasts Forever (TOM)
I remember hearing this song on a film called There’s only one jimmy grimble when I was about 7. Everything from the melody to the lyrics to the strings just bleeds a air of sadness. I especially love the line ‘time’s running out the door you’re running in’. Fun fact; Liam Gallagher does backing vocals.
Wham! - Last Christmas(TOM)
One of the greatest songs ever written. The lyrics tell the story of lost love, paired with George Michaels cutting vocals and sparkly 80s production. You don’t know whether you want to cry, sing or everything at once.
ABBA - The Winner Takes It All(JOSH)
- this track is undeniably heart breaking whilst still being suitable for most any occasion.
Bread - Everything IOwn(JOSH)
- seemingly a love song on the surface with a deeper, devastating longing to have had more time with his father. Gets me every time
The Smiths - Girlfriend in a coma(JOE)
Love how the lyrics are really sad but the music sounds very cheerful and happy, I really enjoy the dark comedy behind the tune.
Paul McCartney - Here today(JOE)
First time I heard the tune I wanted to cry after watching paul talk about john and break down. It’s a really nice song and everyone misses someone so i find it very relatable
The Beach Boys - The Lonely Sea (CHAZ)
Nobody really writes about the sea. Clever how he (Brian Wilson) uses it as a metaphor for his own solitude. Love the naïvety in his voice.
Christopher Cross - Sailing(CHAZ)
Reminds me of my Mum and Dad.
Radiohead - Videotape(MYLES)
Heard it when I was 14 and was like this is well depressing, great song with the piano in the minor key.
Massive Attack - Paradise Circus(MYLES)
Another one that I kept playing on loop when I first heard it, the way it builds with the soft vocals and string arrangement whilst being downtempo is great.
