Schwedischer geht’s wohl kaum: die 25-jährige Sängerin Alma Caroline Cederlöf, die sich für ihre musikalischen Aktivitäten mit dem Künstlernamen Grant schmückt, verbrachte ihre Kindheit außerhalb Stockholms auf einer Farm, wo sie, umgeben von Pferden, vergnügt vor sich hinsang und sich die mannigfaltigen Möglichkeiten ausmalte, die ihr das Leben später einmal offenbaren würde. Mit neun besuchte ein „After School Music Program“, studierte später Jazz-Gesang und war großer Fan von Alternative-Music-Acts wie PJ Harvey, Tricky, Massive Attack und Björk. Nach dem Schlussabschluss nahm sie sich vor, einen Song pro Tag zu schreiben, die sie fortan unter dem Namen Grant präsentierte – inspiriert von Schauspiel-Legende Cary Grant. „Ich wollte einen Namen, der etwas Männlichkeit hat, da ich eine sehr zarte, mädchenhafte Person bin”, erklärt sie.
2018 erschien ihr Debütalbum „In Bloom“, sie unternahm eine Headliner-Tour, supportete Popstar Tovy Styrke auf ihrer Konzertreise durch Skandinavien und trat bei einigen Festivals auf.
Nachdem sie das Jahr 2019 komplett mit dem Schreiben neuer Songs verbracht hatte, legt Grant nun die Single „Words“ vor, auf der sie sich dem Thema „Beziehungsprobleme“ widmet.
„Ich bin in meiner ersten längeren Beziehung und habe festgestellt, dass Worte Chaos verursachen und zu schlimmen Verwechslungen führen können, obwohl sie eigentlich nur Schallwellen in der Luft sind”, erklärt Grant. „Mein Freund sagt mir die ganze Zeit, wie sehr er mich liebt, und trotzdem habe ich immer noch ein Problem damit, diesen Worten zu vertrauen. Deshalb habe ich ein Lied darüber geschrieben.”
Diesen Freitag, am 15.10., erscheint nun die neue EP "Vertigo".
