029 – Fuzzy Sun

Die heutige Playlist kommt von Fuzzy Sun – einer Indie-Band aus UK, die bei uns hier noch gar nicht so bekannt ist (you heard it here first!), auf der Insel aber gerade ihren Durchbruch hat. Ich habe mich in die neue EP „Warm Evening/ Cold Morning“ verliebt und darum die Band eingeladen beim Miserable Monday mitzumachen.

Fuzzy Sun sind eine fünfköpfige Band aus Stockport bei Manchester. Ihre aktuelle EP „Warm Evening/ Cold Morning“ erschien letzten Oktober und ist eine tolle Indie-Pop Platte, mit treibenden Drums und vielen 80er Jahre Synthies, die hier und da in Shoegaze, Dreampop und gitarrenlastigen Bruce Springsteen Rock abdriftet. Die Platte macht Spaß und wird auch beim zweiten und dritten Mal nicht langweilig, im Gegenteil. Kopfnicker Pop, der gute Laune macht, dabei aber nicht pathetisch ist.  

2018 war das breakthrough Jahr für die Band – 2 EPs veröffentlicht, Radio Plays bei BBC Radio1 und Radio X, sowie Support Shows für Blossoms und ausverkaufte Soloshows. Daran wollen sie dieses Jahr anknüpfen. Im Mai sind sie auf großer Headline Tour durch UK. Ich werde mir sie in Bristol schon mal live anschauen, bevor sie hoffentlich bald auch nach Deutschland kommen. -Martin

DIE LISTE 

Funnily enough I was quite excited when we got asked to put this playlist together as most of my  favourite songs are meloncholic and sad. Ultimately these songs are about a deep sense of loss and while in different ways, the songs can be seen as part of a healing process or just a plain honest insight into the artists pain and life. As John Martyn once said, when refering to songwriting,
'when you're in some ghastly emotional state, to be truthful about it, because if you're not, you'll hurt yourself' 
For that reason alone I had to include 'Hurt in your Heart' as it's such a deeply emotional song about his divorce, loosing his wife, kids, house and to some extent his life. 
In a similar vein 'Little Green' by Joni Mitchell is a song about putting her daughter up for adoption when she was only 21, possibly one of hardest things for someone to do, yet still to this day it's a beautiful song. 
'The Message' by Dr Dre again about the ultimate loss. The death of his little brother.
