Die Diskografie der Band erstreckt sich mittlerweile über drei Jahrzehnte und ihre globale Bedeutung führte das Duo in jeden Winkel der Welt. Was soll da eigentlich noch kommen, wenn man schon alles erreicht hat?
Ausgerechnet die durch Corona entstandene Zwangspause gibt darauf eine Antwort. Skye Edwards und Ross Godfrey hatten nun endlich "time to write songs and really get to hone them", wie Godfrey es ausdrückt. "There weren’t so many pressures so we could really take our time getting the songs right", fügt Edwards hinzu.
Es war für das Duo eine Zeit der Selbstreflexion, eine Art Bestandsaufnahme und eine Zeit, in der sie sich darauf freuten, das neue Album in nicht allzu ferner Zukunft live spielen zu können. "This was the first time since I was a teenager that I’d spent a year off the road and I enjoyed the tranquility, although I missed playing my guitar in far off lands", sagt Godfrey.
Entstand ist eine in sich geschlossene Platte, die tief in die Seele des genreübergreifenden musikalischen Erbes der Band eintaucht. Wie immer ist die Band nicht mit vorgefassten Meinungen an das Album herangegangen, sondern hat eine organische Reise geschaffen, die alles repräsentiert, was Morcheeba ausmacht.
